World Interfaith Harmony Week: Feb. 1 – 7

Christian, Jew, Muslim, shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the mystery, unique and not to be judged. ~Rumi

We Know You Feel Compassion
At the Charter for Compassion International, we know that individuals, families, businesses, schools, faith congregations, various groups and organizations and communities throughout the globe very much desire a world of greater compassion and peace.

In fact, billions of people are doing the best they can to live and act with compassion every day. And we are grateful to all of you who do so. Now, more than ever before, it is possible—and indeed, urgently necessary—to tap into that desire and to build a vast interconnected network of compassion among the peoples of the Earth, and to contribute to creating a more peaceful world.

Let’s Raise Our Voices Together for World Harmony
We are reaching out within our broad “network of networks” to make a request to all our members, partners, and communities, to join us in a great collaboration during the first week of February 2015. We will be joining our voices with those of people worldwide who will participate in the United Nations initiative, adopted in 2010, the World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW), which seeks to spread the message of harmony and tolerance among the followers of all the world’s religions, faiths and beliefs—including those who do not adhere to any organized religion or a belief in god. Share our newly edited Compassion video with your community.

What is World Interfaith Harmony Week?

THE OBJECTIVE
The World Interfaith Harmony Week seeks to spread the message of harmony and tolerance among the followers of all the world’s religions, faiths and beliefs. It seeks to do this by promoting their common basis of “Love of God and Love of the Neighbor, or Love of the Good and Love of the Neighbor.” Its message invites everyone, excludes no one, and is purely voluntary.

The main objective behind the World Interfaith Harmony Week is to co-ordinate and unite the efforts of all the interfaith groups and common-good organizations doing positive work with one focused theme at one specific time annually, FEB 1-7, thereby increasing their collective momentum and eliminating redundancy.

PRIZES
Four lucky winners and $50,000 in prizes awarded at the Royal Court in Jordan personally by His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan. Winners are brought to Jordan (all expenses covered) for the award Ceremony.

WHAT COUNTS AS AN INTERFAITH EVENT

Interfaith Teas (Dialogue over tea)
Interfaith Acts of Peace
Interfaith Songs
Interfaith Publications
Interfaith Outings
Interfaith Games
TO SUBMIT EVENTS
Please direct interfaith groups to submit their events on our website. You can submit your own events on there as well: http://worldinterfaithharmonyweek.com/organize-to-harmonize-submit-event

Here’s How You Can Join Us
We want to make the world a better and safer place for all beings! During the first week of February, 2015, we have an opportunity for “collective impact”—joining our desires and actions with others who want to promote harmony and peace across all boundaries and for all people everywhere.

Hold a Compassion WIHW Event
Plan and hold an interfaith harmony event during the first week of February. Suggestions from WIHW organizers include interfaith harmony gatherings, dialogues, games, concerts, collaborations, and acts of kindness and peace (see above list).

Then send us a brief story about your event—with pictures and videos if possible. We will publish these on the Charter website. Send your story to Marilyn Turkovich (Marilyn@charterforcompassion.org) with the subject line “Story for WIHW.”

Did you know that there is a Compassion movement on a major continent that will be launched in the next four months? Or, that we are close to supporting close to 300 compassionate communities globally? Do you know that the Charter for Compassion is performing a major supporting role at the World Parliament of Religions and will be offering a series of workshops throughout the gathering?

We’re spreading the word of COMPASSION—and we need your help to infuse compassion into all we do—in our personal lives, in our workplaces, in our communities, and in connecting across the globe. The Charter for Compassion International is dedicated to providing a “network of networks” to connect people in all walks of life, in all corners of the globe in bringing compassion to everything we do.
